About

Much like its angelic namesake usually does in the Bible and Quran, Gabriel comes bearing a timely message: diners need not choose between bending to the dictates of a higher power and those of international haute cuisine. Fine dining can be kosher, and Gabriel is the proof.

Right around the corner from hopping nightlife district Shlomtzion HaMalka Street, Gabriel is part of the Ben Shetach restaurant row, an oasis of relative calm and extremely fine dining in the heart of downtown Jerusalem. Designed with modernistic flair, with polished wood floors, curved-back leather-upholstered chairs, artistic light fixtures and an angled bar taking up one wall, Gabriel appeals to the kosher l'mehadrin consumer with class, perfect for the kind of business meals meant to impress (and events meant to impress - the restaurant can be reserved for groups up to 45).

And the menu? Gabriel offers a no-nonsense selection of exquisitely prepared gourmet French bistro fare. It's all here: goose leg confit, lamb cassoulet, tournedos Rossini, the very-of-the-moment brains and sweetbreads, and a show-stopping 500 gram Chateaubriand steak for two.

Where Gabriel truly impresses, though, is in its deep selection of the finest in kosher wines from all around the world. Expect to find a winning international list priced at under 200 NIS, but dig a bit deeper in the pocketbook and you can treat yourself to some rare and stunning vintage wines from some of the best kosher wineries in Israel and France.

Business lunch, served from 12:00 until 17:00, is a great deal, with most dishes running under 100 NIS, and a chance to try some of Gabriel's more diverse lunch-only menu options.
