Explore the foundations of Christian heritage through the history of Israel. Learn about the civilizations that passed through this region, including the Crusaders of the Middle Ages, and understand the pull of this storied place. Churches, tombs, fortresses and ancient cities await, but so does the modern state of Israel and the timeless natural beauty here.
DAY 1
Monday (Starts from Tel-Aviv)
This three day tour starts with a day indulging your archaeological appetite.The tour departs fromTel Aviv and driving along the coastal plain to Caesarea, which at the time of the Roman Empire,stood asthe capital of Judea. Here you will be able to visit the excavations of the ancient city,the Roman theatre and the aqueducts. From there you will journey to Megiddo, said to be the site of Armageddon,where once again you will be able to explore the fabulous archaeological excavations including the well-preserved water supply system.From Megiddo you will journey to Mt.Carmel for a panoramic view of Haifa, the Bahai gardens and Haifa bay .From Haifa the tour will continue to the ancientport town of Acre(Akko) to visit the ancient city and harbor. Continue to Kibbutz Lavi for an overnight stay.
DAY 2
Tuesday
Day two starts with a short tour of Tiberia, which includes a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum . Visit the remains of the 2nd century synagogue. Proceed to Tabgha, the site of the miracle of fish and loaves.Following this you will venture to the Church of Multiplication where you can marvel at its 4th century mosaic floor. The tour will then continue onto Mount of Beatitudes , which is said to be the spot where Jesus delivered his sermon on the Mount. The final stop of the day is to the beautiful Banias Springs and waterfalls .Here you can swim in the clear naturalpools,or stand under one of the many waterfalls. Finally drive through the Golan Heights before you return to Kibbutz Lavi for your second overnight stay.
DAY 3
Wednesday
The final day of your three day tour takes you first to Nazareth via Cana of Galilee.Whilst in Nazareth you will visit the Church of Annunciation,St.Joseph’s workshop and Mary’s Well. From here your next stop will be Yardenit ,the baptismal site on the Jordan river. The tour ventures onto the ancient city of Beit Shean, which has been recently excavated. Here you will be stunned by the sheer scale of it all as well as the painstaking detail with which the artifacts have been excavated. Finally, the tour will drive alongside the Jordan River to Jerusalem.
