About

Explore the north of Israel from "sea to sea," with two packed days' worth of expertly guided forays into the region's rich history and beautiful vistas. See some of the earliest Christian sites, including Nazareth and Capernaum, and step back into Roman times at Caesaria. Also keep a watchful eye on modern Israel as you visit the white cliffs and naturally formed grottoes that create the border between Israel and Lebanon at Rosh HaNikra, and take in unforgettable vistas in Haifa, Tiberias and more.

DAY 1

After being picked up from your hotel in a luxury air-conditioned coach, your first stop will be a visit to Nazareth to see the Church of the Annunciation. This Church is at the site where the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would miraculously conceive a child who would be called the Son of God ( Luke 1: 26-38 ).

The current Church, constructed in 1969 over the site of an earlier Byzantine-era and then Crusader-era church. Inside, on the lower level, you will see the Grotto of the Annunciation , which according to tradition was the the original childhood home of Mary.

Your next stop will be the St. Joseph Church which was built, according to tradition, over the carpenter workshop and house of Joseph.

You will then be taken through Cana , which some believe is the site where Jesus performed his first public miracle of turning of a large quantity of water into wine at a wedding feast ( John 2:1-11 ) after the wine that had been provided had run out.

After this, you will visit the ruins at Capernaum on the banks of the Jordan River where you can see a church said to be built on the home of St. Peter. Jesus settled in Capernaum after he left Nazareth and it is there where he chose his first four disciples, James, John, Peter and Andrew. Next on to the Church of the Multiplication at Tabgha , where the Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes occurred.

Finally, drive via Tiberias to the Yardenit baptismal site, where the Jordan River flows from the Sea of Galilee to the Dead Sea, which is a traditional baptism site for Christians of all denominations. You'll then be taken to a three star hotel in the north of Israel, on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

DAY 2

You will first set off to Acre to see the impressive underground Crusader Halls , which were built by the Hospitallers Knights . They contain a complex of six halls, a recently excavated large hall, a dining room, a dungeon and remnants of an ancient Gothic church. Walk through the Old City of Acre to see the Oriental Market and the Acre Port .

Travel on to Rosh Hanikra at the border with Lebanon. Descend by cable car to the Rosh Hanikra Grottos , where the natural erosion of the soft rocks has created a labyrinth of caves and grottos.

Next, you will stop at Haifa and the Carmel Mountain to take in a breathtaking panoramic view of the Bahai Gardens and Temple , as well as the Haifa Port .

You will then continue along the coastal highway arriving at Caesarea , the ancient port city reconstructed and expanded by King Herod in 22 BCE that once served as headquarters of the Roman government in Palestine. You will have a guided tour of the majestic Roman and Crusader ruins and excavations of this once prominent city, seeing the remnants of the impressive Roman Aqueduct , Amphitheater , Markets , Bathhouses , Temples and roads .
