Founded by three young theater school grads in the late '90s, Psik is a Jerusalem theater company and venue with a social conscience. Alongside its full season-by-season lineup of local and international productions, Psik's actors run theater programs for disadvantaged children around the city and host a series of acting workshops for some of Jerusalem's more marginalized population groups, including the disabled, new immigrants and at-risk youths.
Apart from its community work, Psik is officially partnered with the Department of Theater Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, offering a venue in which Jerusalem's rising generation of professional actors can make their marks, and a willing troupe of talented actors to perform the material of budding playwrights. Plays often focus on modern Israeli and Jewish historical themes; productions targeted at children are also often mounted and performed around the city.
