Established in 1992, making it something of a stalwart oasis around which the eddies of Jerusalem's oft-transient restaurant scene swirl, Cielo and its chef Adi Cohen have been serving authentic, no-nonsense Northern Italian cuisine for a decade and a half with no sign of letting up. Tastefully and simply decorated with creeping vines growing outside imparting a distinguished look, Cielo relies on the tried-and-true classics of the Italian kitchen, artfully presented but fundamentally simple.
You won't find any concessions to international fusion or a tacked-on Middle Eastern flair here. Build a meal from traditional appetizers, including antipasti and squid, soups, salads and pastas (spaghetti, linguine, penne and lasagna), and surprisingly reasonably priced (nothing over 100 NIS) main dishes featuring veal, beef, chicken and fish. Finish up with cake and espresso. Cielo also offers an excellent business lunch from 13:00 until 16:00, with one combination for 45 NIS and one for 70.
