Passover at the Bloomfield Science Museum: “Building Site” Festival

http://mada.org.il/pirsum/pesach-2014/

Families are invited to participate in a festival of building at the Bloomfield Science Museum – plan, research, and build – leave Egypt and discover miracles!

Festive Opening of several new activity stations at the museum:

“Building in the Sand”: An innovative sand box which serves as a challenging and experiential building site for kids ages 3 and up which includes a factory for making sand bricks and other challenging missions for kids and their parents which encourage imagination, problem-solving, creativity and team-work. Parents will be glad to know that at the end of the activity there is a cleaning corner which vacuums the sand off of you and your children so you can continue on your way sand-free.

“Blue Blocks” Station: a large area to play build and experiment with huge bright blue blocks in various shapes and sizes – encourages creative play, imagination, movement and cooperation – an international hit now at the museum. The unique sizes of the blocks give kids the opportunity to build huge structures and experiment with the basic laws of engineering.

“Challenge in the Dessert” Building Workshop: an entertaining and challenging activity. While walking through the dessert, the Israelites shoes were stolen. The mission is to create soles of shoes which will protect their feet from the heat. Participants learn the principles of heat, insulation, and stability, and each child gets a gift to take home!

Scientific Demonstration: Today’s science and technology allow us to build almost any type of structure, from skyscrapers to underground cities, to stone, steel, and glass buildings. The demonstration deals with the question of why don’t buildings fall? (And why they sometimes do.) Also, the demonstration looks at the power of the diagonal, how the Tower of Pisa is still leaning but not falling, and how strong paper can be.

Doctor Molecule’s Festive Passover Show: Dr. Molecule and his staff will recreate miracles from the Hagaddah.
