Beit Avi Chai presents: "Benghazi—Bergen-Belsen": An Evening in Honour of Yossi Sucary’s New Book
Wednesday ǀ 22.1 ǀ 8:00 PM
“Benghazi-Bergen-Belsen” is the first novel in Hebrew narrating the story of the world of Libyan Jews in the Holocaust. The novel moves in changing rhythms between continents and countries and presents a narrative that differs from that familiar from other expressions of the Holocaust, in alternating down-to-earth and poetic language. This is a Holocaust of those who were perceived as foreigners and even as threats in the eyes of the European Jews who were partners to their fate - an unfamiliar element even within that same other planet.
In the program:
Introduction by Prof. Yochai Oppenheimer, Tel Aviv University
The author Yossi Sucary talks with Bilha Ben Eliyahyu, the “Kerem” Institute in Jerusalem - David Yellin College
Admission free, tickets may be booked in advance.
This is a Hebrew-language only event.
