Crusader Jerusalem (workshop at BEIT AVI CHAI)
The European knights who came to the Holy Land during the period of the Crusades discovered a new and unfamiliar abundance of foods.
The delicacies of the Crusader Period will take us through the vibrant Jerusalem of those decades, while historical texts expose us to musings about food in Christian texts, dishes for pilgrims, and culinary status symbols.
The encounter with canes sugar, citrus fruits, cucumbers, watermelons, and a whole cornucopia of flavors that thoroughly confused European cooks.
Hosts:
Chef Yossi Ben Dayan
Edna Asiss, tour guide at Yad Ben-Zvi
In the BEIT AVI CHAI Courtyard. Warm attire recommended
The workshop will last about 2 ½ hours.
Each session: NIS 60; students: NIS 30
This is a Hebrew-language only event.
