Beit Avi Chai presents "That's Not How You Write "Holocaust" - An Event for Holocaust Memorial Day"
Thursday, April 19, 8 PM
Author Ida Fink, Israel Prize laureate in literature in 2008, passed away in early 2011. In her lifetime she created a new, daring language in which she wrote about her experiences during the Holocaust. Her books, written in Polish, expose the reader to a direct encounter with the language of the victims, the survivors, and the memory of the Holocaust that hasn't faded.
In a Holocaust Day memorial event, we encounter Fink's unique works, examine the process of constructing individual and collective memories, and analyze the limits of understanding and memory.
An evening of discussion, music, and literary readings about Holocaust remembrance.
Moderator: Amir Gutfreund, author
Sahra Blau, author and journalist
Ada Pagis, author
David Weinfeld, translator, author, and editor
Admission free, but subject to available space. Tickets available from 7 PM.
This is a Hebrew-language only event.
