Beit Avi Chai presents Stage One #3: Amateur English Theater Festival

Jerusalem, Passover, 2012 | April 8-10, 2012

During Passover 2012, Beit Avi Chai is devoting three days to the very best of Jerusalem English-language Theater, shining a spotlight on this thriving subculture while offering a unique perspective on issues of identity and culture from both the local and international perspectives.

 

The festival will include seven plays as well as live concerts, stand-up acts, a jazz show, and much more.

English-speaking theater lovers from Jerusalem and beyond are invite to take part in this unique festival.

Daniel Ortega and Those Yom Kippur Blues * The Last Request of Eddie Carmichael Cohen: Two One-Act plays
Haifa English Theater
On the evening of Yom Kippur services Arthur asks Luis why he should atone for things he hasn't done?
Edward Carmichael, a Catholic, lies in his hospital bed, awaiting the end. He announces that he is really Jewish. Rabbi Murray Schecter must decide whether to accede to the wishes of a dying man who may not be truthful.

Ein Prat Fountainheads
These young Israeli singers, dancers, and artists, all graduates and current students, of the Ein Prat Academy for Leadership, have joined forces to create new Jewish artistic content for today's Jewish world.

Grace Hanna - April 10th, 8 PM
Grace Hanna is an American-Israeli jazz-pop musician and Yuval is a heavy metal guitarist. Togehter they perform an intimate Dixie Land music pop concert.

Beit Avi Chai's "Stage One" first ever Jewish Monologue Contest:
April 10th, 6 PM
We are looking for creative, entertaining, or dramatic writers and actors to write and perform an original monologue, an interpretation of the theme: Generation J.
The ten monologues chosen as finalists will be performed live on April 10th as part of the Festival.
All monologues must be submitted by Saturday the 17th of March 2012, to:
