The Tower of David presents "Will the Sun Rise Tomorrow?" a guided tour followed by The Night Spectacular. The tour and show will take place on December 1 and 2, 2010 - tour at 17:00 followed by The Night Spectacular at 19:00.
The guided tour will look at the influence of light and dark, examine the fears from days of old when the day shortened and night swallowed up day, the question was asked "will the sun rise tomorrow?". Rituals and nocturnal ceremonies were created around the return of the sun in primitive cultures. It is not coincidental that Chanukah, a festival of light, and equally, Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus, fall at the same time of year. The guided tour "Will the sun rise tomorrow?" examines how the desire to restore light was expressed in ceremonies in different cultures and religions. The tour begins at the Tower of David and continues on into the Old City, ending with the performance The Night Spectacular - a most magnificent expression of light as it touches the ancient walls of the citadel.
Duration: 3 hours
