Local Andromeda-a Journey on Route 6: The Jewish-Arab Ensemble of the Israel Philharmonic

"Local Andromeda," a work by composer Ronen Shapira for the Jewish-Arab Ensemble of the Israel Philharmonic, draws its inspiration from drives along Route 6, where Israeli and Palestinian realities intertwine, even though they appear to be at loggerheads. The road has become a symbol of a place that is able to contain the estrangement and proximity of two realities. The ensemble performing the work-Arab violin, oud, flute and piano-two Arab and two Jewish musicians-further emphasizes its message.
