The Confederation House presents the 13th International Oud Festival, which will take place in Jerusalem from November 8-17, 2012.
Chromatic Silence: Wisam Gibran, Solo Oud Recital
Sunday, 11 November 2012 20:30
Gibran, winner of the Prime Minister's prize for composition in 2004 studied in Moscow with Alfred Schnittke and continued his studies in composition and conducting in Berlin. Jubran tries to find a musical idiom and identity through which he can contain the complexity of political conflict: combining a variety of musical influences, from East and West, to create a new synthesis. His work "Chromatic Silence" examines the shades of silence in different traditions of oud playing.
