Beit Avi Chai presents "The Orchestra--Back by popular demand: An original musical composition.
An original musical drama for narrator and string orchestra by composer Aaron Razel, based on S. J. Agnon's story "The Orchestra" (from Sefer ha-ma'asim in the collection Samukh ve-nireh).
This is a tale of personal soul-searching on the eve of the New Year. In a plot that wavers between reality and fantasy, the protagonist receives in the mail an invitation to a concert conducted by none other than the king of kings of conductors. Who is the conductor? Why was the protagonist invited? And why are all the musicians tied to their seats?
With:
• Composer Aaron Razel, who will explain the process of composing the work and the Jewish musical elements on which it is based
• Yehoyachin Friedlander as the narrator
• Omer Arieli conducting a string orchestra
• Bilha Ben-Eliyahu with opening remarks about Agnon's Sefer ha-ma'asim
This is a Hebrew-language only event.
