Beit Avi Chai presents "May We Be a Head and Not a Tail": Culinary workshop based on the symbolic foods of Rosh Hashanah.

Tuesday, September 13, 7 PM
Thursday, September 15, 7 PM

What is rubia? Why do we eat the head of a fish or sheep? What do pomegranate seeds symbolize? What do carrots have to do with favorable decrees? And why do we eat dates on Rosh Hashanah?

Chef Yossi Ben-Dayan and Esther Shkalim, an ethnologist specializing in Jewish communities, invite you to an eye-opening (and mouth-watering) culinary experience based on the blessings for the new year.

The workshop will include demonstrations of how to prepare inventive recipes using some of the symbolic foods of the holiday, such as pomegranates, beets, lubia (rubia), pumpkin, and chard.

The workshop lasts about 3 hours; same program for both sessions

Admission: NIS 60; students: NIS 30

In conjunction with the Tachlit Center for Continuing Education, Hadassah College of Jerusalem
