The Botanical Gardens presents a weekend dedicated to Tu Bishvat celebrations, including an exhibit, planting, tours, and more activities for the whole family.
"The Trees Speak" Exhibit: a spectacular exhibit about the life cycle of a tree. The exhibit features a 168 million year old fossil of a tree trunk weighing 300 kilograms, which was brought especially for the exhibit from a fossil forest in the northwestern part of the Madagascar islands. Also on display will be ten olive trees of all ages, from seeds to ancient olive trees, including a Syrian olive tree that is believed to be over 500 years old. The exhibit will also include fossils from Brazil, Indonesia, and Egypt that are between 65-168 million years old. Additionally, there will be other ancient trees on display and photographs from the Carmel forest after the fire with pieces of burnt trees from the Beit Oren area. Curator: Tama Krudo.
Planting in the Big Flower Carpet: the public is invited to plant flowers on the big flower carpet. The carpet is 135 cm and will be designed to look like a flowering almond tree.
