The 13th Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival will take place at the Jerusalem Cinematheque from December 17-23, 2011.
During the days of the Festival, over 50 films from Israel and all over the world are screened, including feature films, documentaries, shorts, animated and avant-garde films - that explore themes of Jewish faith and practice, history, culture, music, the Holocaust, contemporary life in Israel and the Jewish Diaspora, the relationship between Judaism and other world religions and the role of Jewish identity in the State of Israel.
A festive opening event, alongside special events, live performances and receptions add to the festive atmosphere. Alongside the premiere screenings of the best of new Jewish cinema, a selection of classic films and retrospectives are chosen each year that shed light on the history of Jewish cinema, often focusing on a specific filmmaker, theme or movement in Jewish cinema history.
A special sub-theme on the Holocaust, which springs from the annual work of the Joan Sourasky-Constantiner Holocaust Multimedia Research Center, is a key part of the Festival's program.
The Jewish Film Festival has become a magnet for local audiences, including those who do not necessarily attend the Cinematheque throughout the year.
The Jewish Film Festival has grown tremendously since its inception and has taken its place among the major cultural events in Jerusalem.
For more information, please visit the Festival's English website, where more information, including the full schedule and pricing, will be availabe shortly.
