The tenth Brazilian Film Festival will take place at the Jerusalem Cinematheque throughout the month of August, 2010. Jerusalem events will take place at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. (There will also be events and screenings in the Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Sderot Cinematheques.)
The festival is celebrating its tenth year. The artistic director is Shlomo Azaria, and the festival takes place with support from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, the Brazilian Embassy in Israel, The Ostrovsky Foundation, and more.
A celebration of Brazilian filim, the festival will feature fifteen films, of those, ten feature films and five new documentaries (2009-2010). Types of films to be screened include musical films, dramas, comedies, and other quality films that received great reviews in Brazil and prizes at festivals around the world.
Brazil, known for its music and soccer, has seen a comeback in its film industry in recent years. The festival is the only event in Israel solely dedicated to Brazilian film. A wide variety of films will be screened and the festival offers the Israeli public a chance to experience the best of contemporary Brazilian film. The festival will also include two film competitions, one for feature films and one for documentary films.
