The Jerusalem Municipality presents the third annual Jerusalem Book Festival, a celebration of books and stories. This year's festival is dedicated to author Tirtza Atar, the daughter of poet Natan Alterman, and a fascinating, complex, and talented person in her own right, marking 35 years since her death.

Monday, October 22, 2012 between 15:30-18:00

An extravaganza for kids inspired by Atar's works. Costumed characters will roam the room, bringing kids into the worlds of fantasy from Atar's books. In addition, there will be story and arts and crafts stations, a station for making a mini book version of "The Lion that Loved Strawberries," face painting, childhood games, surprises and more. Entrance is free. For ages 3-8. All activities are in Hebrew.


Beit Ha'am, 11 Bezalel Street


At 11:00 Beit Ha'am hosts Jerusalem's kindergartens and presents a production of "The Lion that Loved Strawberries," Tirtza Atar's classic children's book.


Small Boy Big Boy: songs and ditties for kids, by Tirtza Atar and Natan Alterman.

Monday, October 22 at 18:00 at the Gerard Bechar Center. With Natan Slor, Tirtza Atar's son, Osnat Zibil, and piano by Itai Oren.


The Night is Songs: a festival of Tirtzah Atar's songs

Tuesday, October 23 at 20:30 at the Gerard Bechar Center. 25 NIS in advance, 30 NIS at the door. Singing, poetry reading, and stories about Tirtzah by Dana Berger, Shula Chen, Osnat Zibil, Orit Peleg, and Natan Slor, with violin by Niki. Artistic director, vocals, and piano: Ofer Bashan.


From Ladino to Latino: a festive concert
