Israeli civil law dictates that the organizers of public events must allot an average of one square meter per attendant of all public events. This July 12th-14th, Jerusalem's K'tovet Poetry Group hosts the 4th annual "One Meter Square" Poetry Festival, exploring a world where space is becoming more of a commodity each day. The country's prominent poetry and musical talents will tackle the concept of "space" from every possible artistic angle through a variety of events, free to the general public.
This year the festival takes place in the open spaces of Jeruslem's Botanical Gardens, and intimate little corners of nature in Jerusalem. Poets will read samples of their work and talk with the audience facing the lake, in cafes in nature, and in the garden's butterfly house. Poets include Yair Alden, Karen Alkalay - Guth, Jonathan Barkai, Daniel Oz, and many more.
The K'tovet Group has been active for the past nine years in Jerusalem, hosting scores of poetry and music performances, creative writing workshops and encounters with poets from Israel and abroad.
Admission to the festival is free upon admittance to the botanical garden.
Adults: 30 NIS
Soldiers/seniors/children/students/police: 20 NIS
All three days of festival: 60 NIS
