The Israel Museum presents "Sharon Lockhart: Noa."
December 13, 2011-April 30, 2012
Location: Nathan Cummings 20th Century Art Building
Artist: Sharon Lockhart
Curator: Talia Amar
At the heart of this exhibition is the meeting between artist Sharon Lockhart and the work and personality of choreographer Noa Eshkol, who developed (in collaboration with Prof. Abraham Wachman) a notation system describing human movement. Lockhart's five-channel film installation presents in an original way some of Eshkol's works, recreated by dancers who actually studied with her. Also on view is a new photographic series by Lockhart, a selection of tapestries created by Eshkol together with her students, drawings and sketches that record early stages in the development of Eshkol's special notation system, and documentary material from Eshkol's archive.
