Jerusalem may not have been built on rock and roll (hewn stone maybe), but the Holy City still parties as hard as any Starship song inspiration. Case in point: this week's top event listings.

On Thursday night songstress Chava Alberstein brings an acoustic set to the Jerusalem Theater for a retrospective on her long and distinguished career.

Not everybody likes to head bang. For those who prefer their party in print, National Book Week is still in town until Saturday night, with performances, music, and of course storytelling.

With a title like Hafatzim (Objects) you can't get much more vague than Barbur's new art exhibition. The upside is that there's probably something for everyone from artists Pesach Slabosky, Amnon Ben-Ami, Gabi Kricheli and Yuval Sharon.

Saturday night catch the partial reincarnation of chart toppers Shotei Hanevuah (Fools of Prophecy) as Pshutei Ha'am (Simple People) visit the Yellow Submarines. Both Shotei Hanuvuah oldies and new songs will be on offer.

On Sunday get in touch with your inner lover and surround the Old City with a feel-good aura for the third Jerusalem Hug. Everyone is doing it (and we do mean everyone). Shouldn't you?

If you prefers guitar licks to banging on the drum slowly, head out to Cnaan for rockers Hamakor Sunday night, recently back from a tour of the U.S.

Monday will see the play "Anda," about politics surrounding the 1961 Eichmann trial, at the Jerusalem Theater.

Sometimes poetry is more than just words on paper, as is the case with the Jerusalem House of Quality's new art exhibit, appropriately titled Visual Poetry and on display now.

And sometimes poetry is in motion, as it will be Tuesday at Ha'amabada (The Lab) for the Four Shades of Dance Festival. The festival will feature four distinct movements by some of the country's top movers and shakers.

On Wednesday afternoon, go behind the scenes of theater production as the Jerusalem Theater takes kids on a backstage journey they won't even realize is educational. That's the way they like it.
