Welcome to GoJerusalems' special Pesach edition roundup. We're publishing this week's roundup a day early, to all but
ensure no one will go hungry or complain of boredom! Here you'll find
one of the most comprehensive collections of the countless activities,
performances, festivals, and dining options the Holy City has to offer
for the remainder of the holiday and beyond.
- The International Ice Festival at the Old Train Station
is going strong with extended holiday hours! A visit to this year's ice
festival is a excitement-filled challenge from start to finish with
slides, mazes and tunnels on a journey that begins in Jerusalem and ends
in the Far East. Also new this year is a daily ice dance performance. Click here to get your tickets now!
- Immerse yourself in nature right here in the city today and on Thursday, the first two intermediate days of Passover. City of David is offering theatrical tours, Segway tours, and activities, extreme sports such as rappelling and rock climbing are par for the course at Challenge Tours, and the Hagaddah comes to life at the Museum of Natural History though games, and tours.
- Alternatively, if level ground is more your thing, get in the Passover spirit with holiday-themed arts and crafts and story theater performances at the Museum of Islamic Art. Experiential tours and a life-size board game await visitors at the Tower of David Museum. View ancient Haggadot and solve a digital riddle at the Museum of Italian Jewish Art.
- It's not quite Disneyworld, but it's probably the closest you'll get in Jerusalem. Hang out with Mickey in his own home, create Disney-character themed
arts and crafts, take pictures with your favorite Disney characters and
take home a photo magnet, watch your favorite Disney shows on screen and
more at the Jerusalem Mall (Malcha) presents the Disney Jr. kids dream festival over the intermediate days of Passover on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Beit Avi Chai's fourth annual "Stage One" English Speaking Theatre Festival today, tomorrow, and Friday boasts three days of the very best
Israeli English-language Theater, comedy, and music, shining a
spotlight on this thriving subculture while offering a unique
perspective on issues of identity and culture.
- Kol HaOt's Illuminated Haggadah and Shir HaShirim Fair at the Inbal Jerusalem Hotel
next Thursday will feature works by renowned Israeli artists including
Maty Grunberg, David Moss, Avner Moriah, Matt Berkowitz, Enya Keshet,
Liliana Kleiner, Yaakov Daniel, Eliyahu Sidi, Ya'akov Boussidan and
Asher Kalderon. Meet the artists and get a first-hand "insider's look"
at the creative process.
- With more and more restaurants remaining open on the intermediate days
of Passover with Kosher menus, you won't have a hard time finding a
place to eat out. Carnivores can choose from Latin cuisine at La Boca, cosmopolitan specialties at Herzl, and Italian fare at Little Italy. Luciana is a great dairy option, and sushi fans can hit up Sushi Rechavia's City Center branch.
- The fresh spring air is almost palpable in "Almond Blossoms and Sky Snippets": Shlomo Yehudian's exhibit of paintings at Beit Shmuel's
Hirsch Theater lobby. The artist displays works in aquarelle and
colorful ink, in which he eternalizes spring scenes in a style so
realistic it comes close to looking like photography. Check it out if
you're in the area on Saturday.
- Looking for a place to celebrate Easter Sunday (March 31st) in Jerusalem? The American Colony Hotel invites you to enjoy the spirit of Easter with its special Easter Sunday buffet,
boasting a rich buffet including international and oriental salads and
starters, meat carving station, and a rich dessert buffet including the
hotel's traditional Easter dessert.
- Keep the good times alive even after the holiday ends. Blaze Bar
in downtown Jerusalem offers a great rotation of live bands plus an
unparalleled assortment of domestic and foreign beers. This month brings
a different musical act each night. Next Tuesday night, Jim Quinland
and his band play covers of favorite rock songs from throughout the ages.
- A Hullegeb Israeli-Ethiopian Theater production, "Mandefro Feredeh (Who Would Dare Judge)" is a monodrama centered around the story of citizen Mandefro Feredeh, who has been accused of violence against his wife and attacking police
officers. During his trial, secrets of the complainant and the defendant
are revealed, leading to a surprising ending. The play will show at the Confederation House next Wednesday night, April 3.
