This week's events calendar poses a serious challenge to those who claim that the fact that the word for beer and capital are the same in Hebrew is "purely coincidental." Beer lovers should make sure not to miss the second and final night of the annual Jerusalem beer festival at the Old Train Station tonight, with live performances by some of the biggest names in Israeli music, including The Church of Reason and Monka Sex. But that's not all - the festival will be closely followed by three days of jazz and free beer at the Jerusalem Music Center, beginning next Tuesday. And there's plenty of other stuff going on in between - read on for the full round up.

• Over 150 types of beers from Israeli and international breweries will be represented at the 8th annual Jerusalem Beer Festival, which began Wednesday night and ends tonight, at the Old Train Station. The festival also boasts live performances by big name Israeli entertainers The Church of Reason, Monika Sex, and Paris Jazz, and DJs to boot.
  
  
• Also tonight, renowned Israeli singer-songwriter Rita hits the stage at Sultan's Pool accompanied by a nine piece ensemble. Together, they create a celebration of colors and sounds for an unforgettable musical experience. Rita will play hits from her recent album "Hasmachot Sheli" which includes songs in her native Persian as well as older favorites.
  
  
• Eran Zur and Aharon Razel sing and play music this Friday at the last installment of this summer's series of weekly Kabbalat Shabbat concerts at the Gerard Bechar Center. Through music, they'll discuss the hidden and revealed messages in this week's Torah portion, Shoftim (Judges), and the way in which we experience the same dilemmas in our modern daily lives.
  
  
• Sixty artists display one hundred portraits of women at the Jerusalem's Theatre's "Blessed be He Who Made a Woman" exhibit, on display through the beginning of September. The exhibit, curated by Noga Arad-Eilon, seeks to offer an artistic response to the recent issue of women's exclusion from the public sphere with the clear message: We are here. We are real. We exist.
  
  
• Beit Avi Chai marks the seventieth anniversary of the establishment of the Palmach with a special nostalgic concert which will take the audience back to the days of Israel's infancy. Monday night's concert will feature songs of the Chizbatron, kumsitz stories, and the derring-do of the Palmach in its early days and the War of Independence.
  
  
• The Shai Maestro Trio kicks off the three day "Jazz and Beer" celebration at the Jerusalem Music Center on Tuesday night, featuring top Israeli Jazz artists in three cool concerts with beer on the house. The show will be preceded by a fascinating talk by Roy Ben Sira titled "The Birth of Cool Jazz."
  
  
• Wednesday night is your last chance to catch the annual end of the year party at the Jerusalem Theatre's outdoor plaza, a extravaganza of original creativity with the participation of Israeli and foreign artists and performers, expressing the latest discourse in performance art and on screen.
