Jerusalem's top events for the week of January 26th
Yay! It's cold outside! This may not be everyone's first thought when facing the often wet and windy days Jerusalem has been caught in lately. But when many stay at home, it makes for rewarding opportunities, with the Holy City's awesome cultural events, entertainment options, nightlife and dining scenes all the more easily accessible. And this late January week has just as much fun and enrichment to offer Jerusalem's bravest as any other. Here are our picks.
Colony's World Music Concert series, a celebration of ethnic jams, fine food and beverages from around the world, continues through January 2012. This week, catch the restaurant's own Jerusalem Stone, celebrating three years as Colony's house band.
For a dinner out, enjoy delicious seasonal specials amid views of the Old City at Kedma, where chefs have created a menu for the winter featuring items that are specifically suited for Jerusalem's cold winter months, including a second-generation Jerusalem Mix and Kedma's signature corned beef.
This Sunday, the Malcha Mall kicks off a two-day Olive Oil Festival, a rustic celebration in honor of winter pressings. The mall hosts tasting booths from award-winning olive oil boutiques as well as makers of olive oil-based cosmetics.
Also on Monday, Talmudist and culture scholar Ruchama Weiss and clinical psychologist Avner Hacohen explore the role of comfort food in our lives at the first installment of a six-part workshop at Beit Avi Chai about food, eating habits and human nature.
