From mourning to messiah, Jerusalem is the place to be this week
This is a week of paradoxes for Jerusalem. While many Jews are a state of qausi-mourning for the Nine Days leading up to Tisha B'av, the city's bars, museums, malls and cultural halls will continue putting out a great lineup of summer events and festivals to attend, like the ongoing Jerusalem Film Festival, which closes this weekend. Some Jewish traditions tell of the coming of the Messiah on the ninth of Av, the anniversary of the destruction of the Temples and lots of other calamities. In the event that he doesn't show up, there are plenty more great ways to spend your week in Jerusalem.
Check out our full events section for much more happening around town this week and beyond.
