Israel's weather doesn't really allow for a springtime, instead jumping nearly straight from the chilly breezes of winter to the blazing heat of summer. Thus it goes with Jerusalem, a city that also features great extremes: extremely fun, extremely hopping nightlife, an extremely wide variety of dining options, an extremely great place to be, no matter the weather. There are even extreme high and low moods in town, as evidenced by the somber Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) on Monday, even as flags are hawked to motorists ahead of Independence Day (Yom Haatzmaut). So while the country has hit the post Passover, pre Independence Day lull, Jerusalem still has an extremely large number of things going on. Here are our top picks this week.

• Over the past decade or so, Hadag Nachash has become something of a juggernaut on the Israeli music scene, rocketing to success on funky beats, a unique mix of rapping and groove and even making it internationally on the back of bumper stickers and You Don't Mess with the Zohan. "Yet the Jerusalem band has stayed close to its Jerusalem roots, with frontman Shaanan Street even curating a music series at Beit Avi Chai. Tonight you can check out the local superstars at Hama'abada (The Lab).

• There are a lot of walls in Jerusalem: the Western Wall, the Old City walls... It's therefore fitting that the band that brought the world the song, "Another Brick in the Wall" should be paid tribute to in Jerusalem, as it will be Friday at the Yellow Submarine, by Pink Floyd tribute ensemble Oblins.

• On Saturday night Israeli crooner Shai Gabso visits the Yellow Submarine with his band Hamraot, in support of his third album.

• Sunday night marks the beginning of Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah), so while most establishments will be closed, a number of institutions will be marking the tragedy that claimed six million Jewish lives in their own unique way, one being The Table: Classwork, a play at Hama'abada (The Lab).

• Jewish and Israeli performance artists have famously grappled with how to bring memories and effects of the Holocaust to the stage, with products ranging as wide as The Diary of Anne Frank and Defiance. Now comes another show to add to the mix, Shulem (pictured), a story that illuminates how the parents of a little girl framed tragic experiences as stories filled with magic and humor. Using everything from song to dance to acrobatics and Yiddish vaudeville, the story, especially on Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah) is not one to be missed. See it Monday at the Jerusalem Theatre.

• On Tuesday, head down to the Alrov Mamilla Mall for a sculpture exhibit exploring fairytales and legends that is certainly not your mother's Mother Goose.

• On Wednesday kick off the Jewish month of Iyar with Beit Avi Chai. As home to both Memorial Day (Yom Hazikaron), Indepependance Day and Jerusalem Day, Iyar is perhaps the most Zionist month and the Beit Avi Chai lecture will focus on the Zionist dream with art, songs and music (in Hebrew).
