What: This year, the Hutzot Hayotzer Festival will mark its 40th year of celebration of the cultural event, which has become Jerusalem’s tradition and the biggest touristic and artistic attraction of summertime.
When: The festival will be open to the public every evening (excluding Friday) between 6pm and 11pm, and on Saturday – from 9pm until midnight.
The City of David invites you for a family summer celebration in Old Jerusalem with dozens of fun and joyful activities. Mission and navigation games, special tours, Segway, paintball and more. For further details and to get your tickets, call: 02-6268700.
Throughout August, the Begin Heritage Center will be open to the wide public with plenty of activities for all ages. A theater that tours around the alleys of Jerusalem, a family missions’ game, painting workshop and more.
A summer of musical fun for the whole family: a guest exhibition with 60 musical exhibits, inviting visitors to build, play and experiment. Shows, workshops and demonstrations – all for the price of one ticket!
For a whole month, between July 27th and August 27th, Sunday to Thursday at 12pm – the museumwill present quality shows for children, crafts workshops inspired by Islamic arts, a magnificent watch exhibition, an exhibition of embroidered dresses and more.
What: A fascinating play, in which the writer wanders around the memory basements of remote towns, conjuring long-forgotten Hebrew folk songs. The songs come back to life in an imaginary classroom, where Shtetl Hebrew meets scientific language. Performed at the Khan Theater.
When: August 3th, 2015
What: Beit Avi Chai invites you for a new, fascinating and creative show, where the eternal songs of Zohar Argov meet blues and the delightful and abundant gospel music on a special, extraordinary collaboration.
When: August 4th, 2015
A tour at sundown on the city’s walls, combining songs, legends and tales about people and places. The tour starts at the fortress’s moat – the Tower of David Museum, continuing onto the promenade over the city’s walls and ending at the Western Wall.
Eating Out:
Black comes packed with a pretty bold claim for a chain in a country not known for burgers: "the best burger in town. Any town." The Jerusalem branch of Israeli chef Tzachi Buchester's ever expanding national chain of burger joints, the kosher Black Bar 'n' Burger occupies prime real estate on Shlomtzion HaMalka Street, done up in primal reds and blacks with one of those cool neon-lit bars along one wall. It stays open late. It's got tasty, boozy Kastel (among others) on tap. Its menu betrays a waggish pop culture sensibility: burgers get names like "Twiggy" (160 grams of beef), "Schwarzenegger" (220 grams), "Yokozuna" (330 grams), "Norma Jean" (ground entrecote), "Brigitte Bardot" (veggie) and "Popeye" (take a guess). There's a cool Pulp Fiction diner scene appeal to it all, although it ain't quite your standard diner burger. Potential toppings (no cheese, of course) include the standard-for-Israel (fried egg), the standard-for-anywhere (sauteed mushrooms), and the eyebrow-raising (a mix of pineapple, parsley, green onion and hot peppers). And plenty more. Non-burger entrees include everything from hot wings and nachos to steaks and corned beef.
