Eating Out:
Jacko's Street is a gourmet restaurant situated in the Machane Yehuda Marketplace, a location that breeds chefs. The head chef is one of the restaurant's owners, Chef Zakai Hodja who joined forces with Rafi Revivo and Yotam Nisim to establish this restaurant. Their philosophy is to serve contemporary, kosher food that is never dull. The menu is exciting and unexpected and none of the dishes are made with substitutes like non-dairy creamers or margarine. On Friday afternoons, the restaurant steps up the beat with Greek music and home-style cooking including stuffed grape leaves, fried fish, traditional salads and other delicacies. The items on the menu are anything but stereotypical and include salmon ceviche with cucumber slices, black sesame seeds and shallot vinaigrette with wasabi sauce and melon; Kurdish risotto with celery, chard leaves, lemon and green garlic; fried red mullets with pickled lemons, clemente olives, asparagus, shredded bread, fried eggplant and hot tomato salad; smoked duck focaccia with fried onions, mushrooms and citrus salad, chicken liver in beef and green tea sauce served with bone marrow and hazelnut biscotti; dessert ravioli stuffed with creme patisserie served with chocolate syrup and caramel, coffee and vanilla truffles; kadaif-based cream dessert with toffee sauce and a shot of Limoncello, and more.
