Jerusalem's top events for the week of January 12th
While other cities are content to hibernate the winter away, waiting for warmer times to begin rolling out concerts and more, in Jerusalem, the party never stops, not even when the snow starts to fall.
Every Friday, dozens of artists display their wares at the Bezalel Arts Fair. The fair takes place in the city center from 9:00-15:00 in the winter months, and 10:00-16:00 in the summer months, between the Schatz pedestrian mall, Bezalel St. and the Schieber Park opposite the old Hamashbir department store.
Uzi Navon & Makarim take the stage at Beit Avi Chai, as this weekend's installment of the Saturday night Israeli music series. The Haifa-bred, 12-person ensemble, known for inspiring audiences to bounce, wraps up a week of nation-wide dates at the Jerusalem venue.
Conductor Etai Tevel leads the Ashdod Andalusian Orchestra in an evening of Judeo-Arab music at the Jerusalem Theatre this Sunday. Francois Atlan, a guest vocalist from Marrakesh, performs with Lior Elmaliach, the primary soloist of southern Israeli group. In addition, Raeli Margalit's cello ensemble is also set to appear as part of the program.
Get your skates on! The plaza outside of the Mashbir at the Malcha Mall is transformed into a 100-meter ice skating rink through January 28, providing a magical winter experience for the whole family, from noon through 22:00 on weekdays, plus weekend hours.
