Jerusalem's top events for the week of November 24th
You'd be forgiven for thinking there was nothing going on this week, what with it being seemingly the most boring time of the year, between the holiday overload of the fall and Chanuka-riffic times to come. But honestly, you should know better by now. Concerts, art showings, feasts of plenty and everything in between is on the agenda this week in Jerusalem.
The Museum of Islamic Art presents Ayelet Hachen, a musical performance by Orphaned Land vocalist Shlomit Levy. An emotional performance of emotions, liturgical poetry and ancient Yemenite song in the diwan style, Levy is set to be accompanied by an ethnic ensemble.
The Menachem Begin Heritage Center presents Niggun, Piyyut, and What Surrounds Them, a workshop in which participants learn about rare Hassidic Shabbat melodies and related sources. No prior knowledge of the subject is necessary for participation.
Tmol Shilshom hosts Srugim creators Laizy Shapira and Chava Divon, to talk about writing and directing the show, this Tuesday at 19:00. Season three of the show premieres this winter. "I didn't think the Anglos would identify with the show," Shapira has told GoJerusalem.com. "It's kind of a different world. But they love it!"
And as always, check out our full events section for the complete complement of what is happening around town.
