Hamshushalayim opening a resounding success
Hamshushalayim 2009 got off to a rousing start last Thursday when Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat officially ushered in three long weekends of revelry at Jerusalem's restaurants, bars, shops and cultural institutions. First weekend highlights (pictured below) included extended late night hours and special exhibitions at city museums like the Bible Lands Museum, where a video art performance wowed the crowds, and the Bloomfield Science Museum; ethnic music concerts around the city's various antiquity sites; special stage productions, tours and deals on food and drink in some of the city's best restaurants and pubs. If you missed out - or if you're hungry for more - don't fret: you've still got two more long weekends of Hamshushalayim, and the fun starts again tomorrow evening.
