It's not quite Chanukah yet, but that doesn't mean you can't stuff your face with the thousands of delicious sufganiyot (jelly donuts) beckoning from every respectable bakery and supermarket in town. And just like the city doesn't wait for the first night of candle lighting to celebrate, the city also won't wait for the weekend to throw a host of events to draw out the populace. And when it is the weekend, then the city parties all the harder. Here's a roundup of the best events, both weekend and weekday, in Jerusalem this week.

The book, movie and play "Harold and Maude," about a brash young man who falls into the arms of a much older woman, contains a line about everybody having the right to make an ass out of themselves. Apparently that thought stuck with the Kahn Theater, which is staging an adaptation of the book titled "The Right to be and Idiot" Thursday.

A trip to the Tower of David doesn't have to be so museum-like. On Friday mornings, the Tower hosts a music and poetry event to tell the stories of the spot dating back to the mandate period, followed by a tour of the Mamilla neighborhood.

The Bouzouki may look like it belongs in the Oud Festival, but it's actually it's own instrument. On Saturday night, rocker and songwriter to the stars Yoni Poliker will perform music both Greek and original at Beit Avi Chai.

In nearby Yemin Moshe, two actors will relive their childhoods spent in the neighborhood's winding alleys in the children's play "Where is Mrs. Gabbai" at the Train Theater Sunday.

Israel already has a bald guy who makes chocolate. Now comes another hair-growingly challenged man, only this one sings. Israel Sharon presents "The Bald Soprano" performed by the Kaprizma Ensemble at the Jerusalem music center in, you guessed it, Yemin Moshe.

On Tuesday, Jerusalemite rock group Semantra, an outgrowth of Eden Me Qedem, returns to Cnaan for a night of groovy jams and Jewish rock.

On Wednesday you can check out the "Land of Exiled Prayers" at the Merkaz. No it's not where Santa's letters end up but rather a new art exhibit by Elihau Eric Bokobza and Avi Rose. Then go get a turkey, for tomorrow be American ex-pats' Thanksgiving.
